Füsun Demirel (born June 13, 1958 in Ankara) is a prominent Turkish actress and translator with an impressive career in film, television, and theater. After studying acting in Rome, she began her professional career in Berlin in 1980, returned to Turkey in 1982, and established herself in theater groups such as Çevre Tiyatrosu, Dormen Tiyatrosu, and Dostlar Tiyatrosu. Parallel to her acting career, she built a career as a translator and published numerous plays in Turkish. Her well-known film roles include dramatic performances in films such as Büyük Adam Küçük Aşk (2001), for which she won the Altın Portakal for Best Supporting Actress, among other awards. She had other notable roles in Züğürt Ağa (1985) and Berdel (1990), the latter of which earned her the Siyad Award for Best Supporting Actress in 1991. In the drama PASSED BY CENSOR (original title Görülmüştür, 2019, directed by Serhat Karaaslan), she took on a supporting role as a mother. The film deals with censorship-related dilemmas based on a prison letter examiner and was produced as part of international co-productions. In recent decades, Füsun Demirel has also been extremely active on television, appearing in series such as Yalan Dünya, Memleket Meselesi, and Sıdıka. She has also received recognition from several acting associations for her services to the art of acting in Turkey. With her versatility, stage presence, and commitment as a translator and actress, Füsun Demirel remains a defining figure in Turkish culture.
