Kristof Gerega is a German-Polish actor and filmmaker who was born in Wroclaw in 1981 and lives in Berlin. After studying acting at the Bern University of the Arts, he initially worked in theater productions and in film and television roles, supplementing his training with studies in philosophy and sociology at Humboldt University in Berlin. His background thus combines classical acting skills with a clear interest in social issues. As an actor, Kristof Gerega became known primarily through feature films and television films that straddle the line between independent cinema and TV production. In VON JETZT AN KEIN ZURÜCK (2014, directed by Christian Frosch), he plays Brother Udolf in a youth drama set in the Federal Republic of Germany in the late 1960s. Other notable roles include the TV film Dreileben – Etwas Besseres als den Tod (Three Lives – Something Better Than Death) and series such as Tatort, SOKO Leipzig, and Türkisch für Anfänger (Turkish for Beginners). In cinema, he has appeared in productions such as Spaceship, Oilfields Mines Hurricanes, In sieben Minuten (In Seven Minutes), and 1000 Kings. In Piaffe, he takes on both a role in front of the camera and tasks in the production team. Parallel to his acting work, Kristof Gerega has established himself as a documentary filmmaker and producer. With Generation Euromaidan – Sehnsucht nach Demokratie (Generation Euromaidan – Longing for Democracy), he realized a long-term observation of political developments in Ukraine and was responsible for directing and screenwriting. His documentary film No Longer Our Homeland premiered at the São Paulo International Film Festival in 2016. As a producer, Gerega has been involved in cinema and documentary projects such as Neubau, Sirens, Südsee, Life Is Not a Competition, But I'm Winning, and Piaffe. This has positioned him in the European arthouse sector as a versatile filmmaker who combines acting, directing, and production.
