Oliver Mommsen, born on January 19, 1969, in Düsseldorf and raised in Berlin, is a distinguished German actor known for his memorable performances in film, television, and on stage. He is particularly well known for his long-running role as Inspector Nils Stedefreund in the Bremen-based crime series Tatort, which he played from 2001 to 2019. His cinema role in DIE HAUT DER ANDEREN (2018, directed by Thomas Stiller) is one of his outstanding performances. Mommsen plays the erotic author Marc Deville, who flees physical intimacy in everyday life and can only experience emotional connection live in front of the camera. The story tells of his relationship with nurse Justine, who herself has unusual preferences; despite their fetishes, the two hesitantly find their way to each other in this intense drama full of contrasts. Oliver Mommsen has also appeared in award-winning productions such as Sommersturm (2004), Maria, ihm schmeckt’s nicht! (2009) and Der Mann, den sie nicht lieben durfte (2001).
