Emma de Caunes, born on September 9, 1976, in Paris, is a renowned French actress and daughter of director Antoine de Caunes. She had her first major film role at the age of ten and made her breakthrough with Un frère (1997). In 2002, she was awarded the Romy Schneider Prize. She is known for her multifaceted roles in both film and television. Her best-known films include Asterix & Obelix: Mission Cleopatra (2002, directed by Alain Chabat), Ma mère (2004, directed by Christophe Honore), The Science of Sleep (La Science des rêves, 2006, directed by Michel Gondry), Mr. Bean's Holiday (2007, directed by Steve Bendelack) and The Diving Bell and the Butterfly (Le Scaphandre et le papillon, 2007, directed by Julian Schnabel). She appeared in SHORT ORDER (2005, directed by Anthony Byrne), in which she plays Fifi, a cook who creates sensual experiences with her dishes. On television, she has appeared in series such as Sweet Dream (2009) and Lanester (2013–2017), and is currently starring in Le mariage (since 2024). She also appeared in Ransom in 2017–2018. Emma de Caunes is considered a versatile actress who is equally at home in quirky comedies and poetic dramas, captivating audiences of all ages and genres.
