Carrie Brownstein, born in 1974, is a versatile American filmmaker, musician, and author. She first gained international recognition as a co-founder of the influential rock band Sleater-Kinney. Together with Fred Armisen, she created the Peabody Award-winning sketch comedy series *Portlandia* (2011–2018), in which she also starred and served as a writer. Her directing work includes episodes for various television series and the feature film *The Nowhere Inn* (2020). Additionally, Brownstein is the author of the memoir *Hunger Makes Me a Modern Girl*.
