France Castel is a celebrated Canadian actress and singer, known for her versatile talents in both the music and film industries. Born on August 31, 1944, in Sherbrooke, Quebec, Castel began her career as a singer in the 1960s before transitioning into acting. She gained recognition for her roles in a variety of television series and films. Some of her notable film appearances include "Les Plouffe" (1981), "The Heart Exposed" (1983), and "The Barbarian Invasions" (2003), which won numerous awards including the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film. Throughout her career, she has also graced the stage in several theatrical productions. Castel's contributions to the arts were acknowledged when she was appointed a Member of the Order of Canada in 2013.
