Françoise Cactus

Françoise Cactus, primarily known as a musician and a member of the German-French pop band Stereo Total, had a multifaceted career that extended into acting and other artistic endeavors. Born as Françoise van Hove in Villeneuve-l'Archevêque, France, in 1964, she moved to Berlin in the 1980s where she became an integral figure in the local music and art scene. While she is principally celebrated for her contributions to music, her artistic talents were not confined to one medium. Her involvement in films includes appearances and contributions to various independent projects characteristic of Berlin's vibrant underground culture. Though she didn’t receive major film awards, her influence and presence in the European art scene were significant. Françoise co-wrote several of the scripts for her band's music videos, blending her rich artistic versatility across different media. She passed away in 2021, leaving behind a legacy of creative and cross-disciplinary work.
