Hanno Koffler, born on March 25, 1980, in Berlin, is a German actor and musician. He began his career on stage and as a drummer in the band Kerosin before moving into film. He made his breakthrough with the lead role in Freier Fall (2013, directed by Stephan Lacant), in which he plays a police officer struggling with his newly discovered feelings for a colleague. The film brought him to the attention of a wider audience and led to a nomination for the German Film Award. In the biopic HÄRTE (2015, directed by Rosa von Praunheim), Koffler took on the role of Andreas Marquardt: a martial artist who slips into pimping and is later confronted with his past in prison. The film was shown in the Panorama section of the Berlinale and nominated for the German Film Award. In addition to these major works, Koffler played the character Juro in Krabat (2008, directed by Marco Kreuzpaintner) and appeared in Never Look Away (2018, directed by Florian Henckel von Donnersmarck), a film that was nominated for an Oscar®. Koffler is characterized by a versatility that encompasses both emotional intensity and physical commitment. His roles cover a spectrum from theater and indie films to international productions. Today, he is one of the most distinctive actors on the German film scene, convincing in both leading and supporting roles.
