Belgian actor Jan Decleir, born in Niel in 1946, is a prominent figure in European cinema. His career is closely linked to internationally successful productions; he appeared in the Academy Award-winning films *Antonia's Line* (1995) and *Karakter* (1997). He also played the lead role in the Oscar-nominated drama *Daens* (1992). For his performance in the film *The Barons* (2009), he was honored with the Belgian Magritte Award for Best Supporting Actor.
