Lars Barthel
Director
Lars Barthel, born in Berlin in 1973, is a German director and writer. He completed his directing studies at the Film University Babelsberg Konrad Wolf. His graduation film, the documentary "Grüße aus Tora Bora" (Greetings from Tora Bora, 2007), was screened in competition at the Max Ophüls Preis film festival. His later work "Als wir gingen" (When We Left, 2018), which deals with the aftermath of German reunification, was featured in the German Competition of the DOK Leipzig festival. As a filmmaker, Barthel's work often focuses on socio-political topics and their personal impact.
