DirectorMascha Schilinski grew up in West Berlin as the daughter of a filmmaker. After completing a screenwriting masterclass in Hamburg in 2008, she studied directing at the Film Academy Baden-Württemberg from 2012. Her 2015 short film *Die Katze* premiered at the Max Ophüls Festival and earned awards for Best Student Film and Grand Prix Europe in Brive. Her debut feature, *Die Tochter* (2017), screened in the Perspektive Deutsches Kino section at the Berlinale and won prizes at Filmkunstfest Mecklenburg-Vorpommern and the Vancouver International Women in Film Festival. Her second feature, *In die Sonne schauen* (*Sound of Falling*), premiered in competition at Cannes in 2025, won the Jury Prize, and was selected as Germany’s submission for the Best International Feature Film category at the Oscars.
