Peter Kahane
Director
Born in Prague in 1949, director and screenwriter Peter Kahane completed his directing studies at the University of Film and Television in Potsdam-Babelsberg. He then worked at the DEFA Studio for Feature Films, where he made films such as *Ete und Ali* (1985) and *Vorspiel* (1987). His acclaimed feature film *The Architects* (1990) is considered one of the last and most critical DEFA films, dealing with the social conditions in the late GDR. For this work, he was awarded the FIPRESCI Prize at the 1991 Berlinale. After German reunification, Kahane increasingly focused on directing television films and series episodes, for instance for the series *Stubbe – Von Fall zu Fall*.
