Siegfried Seibt, born on August 19, 1920, in Görlitz and died on January 6, 1982, in East Berlin, was a German actor who made a name for himself through a variety of roles in GDR film and television. In the DEFA production DAS ZAUBERMÄNNCHEN (1960, directed by Christoph Engel and Erwin Anders), he played the title role of Rumpelstiltskin, a performance that made him famous and is still remembered today. He reprised his role as Rumpelstiltskin in the popular children's series Spuk unterm Riesenrad (1979, directed by Günter Meyer), in which ghost train tales came to life. He also appeared in the television series Polizeiruf 110, in episodes such as Gesichter im Zwielicht (Faces in Twilight) and Holzwege (Wrong Turns) – roles that underscored his versatility as a supporting actor. Other noteworthy productions include Bärchens Traum (TV film, 1979) and Solo für Martina (TV film, 1980), which also made him a familiar face on GDR television.
