Yvonne Furneaux

The French-British actor Yvonne Furneaux was born in Roubaix, France, in 1926 and completed her education at the University of Oxford and the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art. Her international career is defined by collaborations with influential European filmmakers. She took on a central role in Michelangelo Antonioni's drama *Le Amiche* (1955) and portrayed the character of Emma in Federico Fellini's masterpiece *La Dolce Vita* (1960). Furneaux also became known to a wider audience through the Hammer horror film *The Mummy* (1959) and as the protagonist's sister in Roman Polanski's psychological thriller *Repulsion* (1965). Yvonne Furneaux passed away in 2023.
