Trailer

A fling, as it could happen anywhere in the world, takes on a dangerous political dimension in the divided city of Jerusalem.

Synopsis

The café owned by Sarah, an Israeli woman from West Jerusalem, is supplied by Saleem, a Palestinian from East Jerusalem. Although worlds apart and both married, they begin an affair, risking everything that is important to them. When one of their risky nighttime meetings goes wrong and they are in danger of being exposed, they try with all their might to salvage what is left of their lives. But they must watch helplessly as their frantic efforts cause things to escalate further. Under the pressure of the occupation machinery and the socio-political environment, they are caught in a web of lies, and not even the truth seems to be able to help them anymore. THE REPORTS ON SARAH AND SALEEM was completed in 2018 and premiered at the International Film Festival Rotterdam, where it won two awards – the Special Jury Award for Best Screenplay and the Audience Award. The film also screened at numerous other international festivals, including the Seattle International Film Festival, the Durban International Film Festival, and the Jerusalem Film Festival. Critics praised its dense narrative structure and authentic portrayal of everyday political reality. With its blend of thriller, melodrama, and social commentary, the film serves as an intense reflection of the social fault lines in the Middle East today.
