ALL WE EVER WANTED turns a sunlit island getaway into a drama of desire, class and friendship when money troubles reorder three lives quietly.
Synopsis
ALL WE EVER WANTED begins as a holiday story and turns into a study of three young people caught between desire, money and shifting loyalties. Désirée travels with her lover Elias and her closest friend Sal, and the island setting quickly reveals tensions that have been lurking below the surface for too long.
When a theft and frozen cards leave them almost broke, their plans must change. Rather than going home, they decide to turn their trip into an improvised adventure, sleeping in a car, buying a tent and wandering around the island. The new rules: avoid money and avoid talking about the relationship between Désirée and Elias.
ALL WE EVER WANTED observes how closeness can turn uncertain when private wishes meet shared limits. Désirée's bond with her mother, Elias's wish for more than desire, and Sal's role as trusted confidant all come into view as the trio renegotiates intimacy, friendship and self-image.
Directed and written by Frédéric Jaeger, the film blends the real and the dreamlike, with an aesthetic distance that keeps the viewer in a watching position. Charity Collin, Mehmet Sözer and Michael Ifeandu play the three leads. ALL WE EVER WANTED invites a calm look at how a holiday can become a test of desire and character.
