Particularly noteworthy are Die Unsichtbaren – Wir wollen leben (2017), which won several international awards, and the queer soccer drama Mario (2018), which attracted a lot of attention at festivals. Altaras achieved his international breakthrough with the Netflix miniseries Unorthodox (2020), which won the award for “Best Miniseries” at the Canneseries festival and was honored with an Emmy for “Best Director.” Also central was his role in the lavishly produced TV series Eldorado KaDeWe – Jetzt ist unsere Zeit (2021), which received a great response in Germany under the title Die Zweiflers.
