Anja Antonowicz

Anja Antonowicz was born on December 22, 1981, in Włocławek, Poland, and completed her education at the National Film School in Łódź, graduating in 2004. She first gained recognition in Poland for her role in the series Na dobre i na złe. From the mid-2000s, she continued her career in Germany and appeared in the long-running series Lindenstraße from 2005 to 2014, as well as in further episodes in 2019 in the role of Nastya Pashenko. For her performance in Bella Block: Die Frau des Teppichlegers (Bella Block: The Carpet Layer's Wife) in 2005, she received a nomination for the German Television Award in 2006. She made a name for herself internationally with appearances in cinema productions. Directed by Peter Greenaway, she played the role of Catharina in Nightwatching in 2007. This was followed in 2008 by the film The Rainbowmaker by Nana Dzhordzhadze, in which she appeared as Elene. She took on another memorable role in 2013 in Westen, directed by Christian Schwochow, where she played Krystina. Her work also includes the 2007 short film PIETAS, directed by Matthias vom Schemm, in which she played the character Hannah. Her more recent projects include the highly acclaimed 2021 film Mission Ulja Funk by Barbara Kronenberg, an appearance in the acclaimed 2022 series The Crown, directed by Christian Schwochow, and the 2023 film Gäste zum Essen by Carolin Otterbach. Anja Antonowicz has thus developed a versatile profile that ranges from Polish series to German television classics to international productions.
