Anton Yelchin

Anton Yelchin was born on March 11, 1989, in Leningrad (now Saint Petersburg), Russia, and emigrated to the United States with his parents as an infant. He made his debut in 2000 as a child actor in the independent film A Man Is Mostly Water and first gained attention in Hearts in Atlantis (2001, directed by Scott Hicks), in which he gave a convincing performance alongside Anthony Hopkins as Bobby Garfield. His best-known roles include Pavel Chekov in Star Trek (2009), the sequels Star Trek Into Darkness (2013) and Star Trek Beyond (2016), and Kyle Reese in Terminator Salvation (2009). He also impressed in indie productions such as Like Crazy (2011, directed by Drake Doremus), Fright Night (2011, directed by Craig Gillespie), Odd Thomas (2013, directed by Stephen Sommers), and Green Room (2015, directed by Jeremy Saulnier). Particularly noteworthy is his performance in the film ONLY LOVERS LEFT ALIVE (2013, directed by Jim Jarmusch), in which he played the role of Ian. After his tragic death in 2016, Anton Yelchin left behind a multifaceted filmography ranging from mainstream blockbusters to arthouse dramas to genre-spanning roles.
