Billy Bob Thornton

Billy Bob Thornton, born on August 4, 1955, in Hot Springs, Arkansas, is an American actor, screenwriter, director, and musician. He gained international recognition for Sling Blade (1996, directed by Billy Bob Thornton), a drama that he wrote, directed, and starred in; the film earned him an Oscar for Best Adapted Screenplay. Other notable films include One False Move (1992, directed by Carl Franklin), Tombstone (1993, directed by George P. Cosmatos), A Simple Plan (1998, directed by Sam Raimi), Monster's Ball (2001, directed by Marc Forster), Armageddon (1998, directed by Michael Bay), and Bad Santa (2003, directed by Terry Zwigoff). One of his best-known television appearances is in Goliath (2016–2021, various directors), in which he plays the failed lawyer Billy McBride, winning a Golden Globe Award for the role in 2017.
