Christine Anu is an Australian singer, songwriter, and actress with a career spanning several decades. Born on March 15, 1970, in Cairns, Queensland, she is of Torres Strait Islander descent and has used her platform to celebrate and promote Indigenous Australian culture. Anu gained prominence with her hit song "My Island Home," which became an anthem for many Australians. In addition to her successful music career, Christine Anu has made significant contributions to film and television. She appeared in the 1995 film "Dating the Enemy" and the acclaimed 1998 film adaptation of the musical "Moulin Rouge!" directed by Baz Luhrmann. Anu also starred in the Australian TV drama series "Outland" and “The Alice.” Her talent has been recognized with several awards, including multiple ARIA (Australian Recording Industry Association) Awards.
