Günter Naumann

Günter Naumann was a German actor who secured a permanent place in film history with memorable roles in East German cinema and television. His artistic career spanned several decades, during which he gave convincing performances in both comedic and serious roles. He became known for his role in AUF DER SONNENSEITE (1962, directed by Ralf Kirsten), among others. In this popular comedy film, he played a worker in the main character's circle and contributed to the film's great popularity. In 1972, he starred in LEICHENSACHE ZERNIK, directed by Helmut Nitzschke, a crime film that dealt with historical legal proceedings and in which Naumann played the role of Brucker. Günter Naumann also appeared in numerous other film and television productions. In the 1960s, he starred in Fünf Patronenhülsen (Five Cartridge Cases, 1960, directed by Frank Beyer), one of the most important anti-war films produced by DEFA. Later, he took on roles in the popular television series Zur See (1977–1978, directed by Wolfgang Luderer), which also made him known to a wide television audience. Other works included Die Gerechten von Kummerow (1965, directed by Wolfgang Luderer) and various theater adaptations that were shown on GDR television. His artistic achievements were recognized on several occasions. In 1977, Günter Naumann received the GDR Art Prize, and in 1982 he was awarded the GDR National Prize. These honors testify to his high standing in the cultural landscape of the GDR and his talent, which made him a sought-after actor for decades.
