Hans-Peter Minetti

Hans-Peter Minetti, born in Berlin in 1926, was a German actor who worked extensively in theatre, film, and television in East Germany. The son of actors Bernhard Minetti and Anne Gebhardt, he initially studied art history and philosophy before training as an actor at the Theatre Institute in Weimar. From the 1950s onward, he appeared on major Berlin stages and in numerous DEFA and Deutscher Fernsehfunk productions. His best-known films include ERNST THÄLMANN – SOHN SEINER KLASSE, DER TEUFEL VOM MÜHLENBERG, LISSY, and SPUR DER STEINE. He later also played an important role in actor training in the GDR and headed the State Drama School, later known as the Ernst Busch Academy of Dramatic Arts, for many years. He died in Cheb, Czech Republic, in 2006.
