The British actor Katrin Cartlidge (1961–2002) was known for her intense performances and her collaborations with influential filmmakers like Mike Leigh and Lars von Trier. She became known to an international audience for her unforgettable supporting role as Dodo in von Trier's drama 'Breaking the Waves | 1996', for which she posthumously received the Danish Bodil Award. Her acting range was demonstrated in critically acclaimed films such as 'Naked' (1993) and 'Career Girls' (1997). Furthermore, she played a central role in the Oscar-nominated Macedonian film 'Before the Rain' (1994), which won the Golden Lion in Venice.
