Katy Karrenbauer

Katy Karrenbauer was born on December 31, 1962, in Duisburg and is a German actress, voice actress, singer, and author. She made her breakthrough with the role of Christine “Walter” in the series Hinter Gittern – Der Frauenknast (Behind Bars – The Women's Prison). She later established herself in cinema and has been honored with awards. In the feature film HÄRTE (2015, directed by Rosa von Praunheim), she plays the mother of Andreas Marquardt—a central role in the biography about violence and redemption. For this, she was awarded the Special Prize of the German Film Academy. In the television and cinema project WAS AM ENDE ZÄHLT (2007), Karrenbauer took on one of the cinema roles, demonstrating her versatility between series and film roles. Katy Karrenbauer has also appeared in relatively well-known works such as Cloud Atlas (2012), in which she was part of an international ensemble cast, and the comedy Herrliche Zeiten (2018, directed by Oskar Roehler), which showcases her ability to perform in different genres.
