Kida Ramadan

Kida Khodr Ramadan is a German actor and director of Lebanese origin who has established himself as one of the most distinctive character actors in German film and television since the 2000s. His career began with supporting roles in cinema before he became known to a wider audience through memorable performances. An early work in his filmography is URBAN GUERILLAS (2003, directed by Neco Çelik), in which he played a role. The film dealt with youth culture and migration backgrounds and showed Ramadan in an environment that would later become characteristic of many of his roles. His cinema appearances include “Ummah – Among Friends” (2013, directed by Cüneyt Kaya), a drama about integration and friendship that earned him much acclaim. He also appeared in “Only God Can Judge Me” (2017, directed by Özgür Yildirim) and “Fuck Off, Snow White” (2018, directed by Cüneyt Kaya). He gained particular fame through the series “4 Blocks” (2017–2019, directed by Marvin Kren, among others), in which he played the lead role of clan leader Toni Hamady. He received several awards for his performance, including the Grimme Prize and the German Acting Prize in 2018. “4 Blocks” also received great recognition at the German Television Awards. This series cemented Ramadan's reputation as an outstanding actor on German television. In the following years, he appeared in series such as “Crooks” (2023, directed by Marvin Kren) and ‘Testo’ (2024). He also appeared in cinema and television films that dealt with current social issues. In addition to acting, he also directed, including “In Berlin wächst kein Orangenbaum” (2020). With roles in films such as URBAN GUERILLAS and series such as “4 Blocks,” Kida Ramadan has proven that he is one of the most important actors of his generation. His awards confirm his position as a defining figure in German cinema and television.
