Luise Heyer

Actor
Luise Heyer, born in East Berlin in 1985, is one of the most striking faces in contemporary German cinema. After training at the Rostock University of Music and Drama and her first engagements at the Schauspiel Dortmund, she moved in front of the camera at an early age and has since combined precise acting with a wide emotional range. She celebrated her cinema breakthrough with the leading role of Isabel in the 2011 GDR summer drama WESTWIND by director Robert Thalheim, which made her presence and naturalness known to a wide audience. In HÄRTE (2015), directed by Rosa von Praunheim, Heyer plays the character Marion, placing her at the center of a relentless film biography about violence, guilt, and new beginnings. She shows another facet of her talent in LEIF IN CONCERT - VOL. 2, a cinema project by Christian Klandt launched in 2020, in which she plays bartender Lene, the calming influence in a lively bar universe. At the same time, Heyer gave convincing performances in memorable roles such as the mother of young Hape Kerkeling in the feature film Der Junge muss an die frische Luft (The Boy Needs Fresh Air), in the intense relationship drama Das schönste Paar (The Most Beautiful Couple), in the Berlinale competition entry Jack, and in sophisticated television productions such as Polizeiruf 110: Sabine. For her work, Luise Heyer was awarded the German Film Prize for Best Supporting Actress in 2019 for Der Junge muss an die frische Luft and received the Bambi in the category of National Actress in the same year for her performances in Der Junge muss an die frische Luft and Das schönste Paar. With her combination of down-to-earthness, courage to take on complex characters, and an impressive range of roles, she is now one of the most important actresses of her generation in film and television.
