Mauro Russo Rouge, born on September 24, 1979, in Castel San Giorgio, is an Italian director, screenwriter, producer, and cinematographer. He became known for his radical independent films, which are characterized by experimental imagery, extreme reduction, and uncompromising subject matter. His feature film debut, CENSURADO: ODE TO LOVE, was released in 2015 under his direction. The film was shown internationally at festivals and marked his entry into the feature film format. ABERRANTE followed in 2016, also directed by him, which won several awards at festivals in the USA, including the Texas Independent Film Festival. IRA – ZORN was made in 2018, also directed by Mauro Russo Rouge. The work premiered at the Denver Film Festival in the same year and was released in Italy by Mescalito Film in 2019. In 2019, his film C.L.A.B. (Calm Like A Bomb), which he directed himself, was released. The action film, which is completely without dialogue, tells the story of a man who avenges the murder of his girlfriend in one night. With these films, Mauro Russo Rouge established himself as an independent voice in European independent cinema. His works are characterized by a courage to experiment, visual harshness, and a break with classic narrative forms.
