Michelle Trachtenberg was born on October 11, 1985, in New York City and began her acting career as a toddler in commercials. She had her breakthrough as Dawn Summers in the cult series Buffy the Vampire Slayer. In cinema, she impressed audiences with roles in Harriet the Little Detective (1996, directed by Bronwen Hughes), EuroTrip (2004, directed by Jeff Schaffer) and Ice Princess (2005, directed by Tim Fywell), she was particularly impressive in the disturbing drama MYSTERIOUS SKIN (2004, directed by Gregg Araki), in which she played Wendy and which is based on the novel of the same name. In television, she became known for her portrayal of Georgina Sparks in Gossip Girl. In the 2010s, she also took on roles in TV movies such as Killing Kennedy (2013) and Sister Cities (2015), as well as voice roles in animated projects. Michelle Trachtenberg's range extended from charming teenage roles to emotionally challenging character studies – an actress with lasting expression.
