Mike Leigh

Mike Leigh is a British director, screenwriter, and theater producer who is considered one of the most influential voices of modern realism in European cinema. After training at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art and the London Film School, he began his career in theater before gaining international recognition for his film work. His works are known for their authentic characters, precise dialogue, and deep social insight into everyday life in Great Britain. With SECRET AND LIES (1996), Mike Leigh created one of his most significant films. The drama, which he directed and wrote himself, won the Palme d'Or at the Cannes International Film Festival and received several Oscar nominations.
