Peter Reusse was born on February 15, 1941, in Teltow and was a prominent actor in East German cinema and television. He appeared in films at an early age, such as Die Abenteuer des Werner Holt (The Adventures of Werner Holt, 1965, director: ?), Denk bloß nicht, ich heule (1965, director: ?), and secured his second leading role in the comedy EIN IRRER DUFT VON FRISCHEM HEU (1977, director: Roland Oehme), which was one of the most successful DEFA productions of the year. Less well known internationally but a star in the East, Reusse was particularly appreciated for his strength of character in television productions. He frequently appeared in crime series and serials, including Polizeiruf 110 (several episodes, e.g., Draußen am See, 1984, directed by Helmut Krätzig) and mini-series such as Kiezgeschichten (1987). He received the Goethe Prize of the City of Berlin in 1987 for his versatility. After reunification, he retired from acting in 1993 for health reasons and devoted himself to art and literature. Peter Reusse shaped the East German film and television landscape for decades with his memorable roles.
