Renate Blume

Renate Blume, born on May 3, 1944, in Bad Wildungen, is a renowned German actress who became famous primarily through numerous DEFA films and television roles. She celebrated one of her early successes as Rita Seidel in DER GETEILTE HIMMEL (1964, directed by Konrad Wolf), a film adaptation of Christa Wolf's novel, which had a lasting impact on her career. In the fairy tale film DER PRINZ HINTER DEN SIEBEN MEEREN (1982, directed by Walter Beck), she played the Comtessa Annunziata and contributed to the atmospheric narrative style of this DEFA classic. In the western drama ULZANA (1974, directed by Gottfried Kolditz), she played the role of Leona, while the protagonist Ulzana defends the freedom of his tribe. Another milestone was her appearance in DIE GEFRORENEN BLITZE (1967, directed by János Veiczi), a two-part spy film in which she played Ingrid – the film tells the story of resistance against Nazi armament projects.
