Stephen Dillane
ActorStephen Dillane, born on March 27, 1957, in London, is a multi-award-winning British actor known for his memorable character roles in both film and television. An important film in his career is STORM (2009, directed by Hans-Christian Schmid), in which he plays Keith Haywood. The political thriller premiered at the 2009 Berlin International Film Festival and won the Amnesty International Film Award and the Berlin Morgenpost Readers' Jury Award.
Other outstanding film roles include Horn in Hamlet (1990, directed by Franco Zeffirelli), Michael Henderson in Welcome to Sarajevo (1997, directed by Michael Winterbottom), and Leonard Woolf in The Hours (2002, directed by Stephen Daldry). In the sci-fi genre, he played the impatient Harker in Spy Game (2001, directed by Tony Scott) and English golfer Harry Vardon in The Greatest Game Ever Played (2005, directed by Bill Paxton).
Dillane gained international fame on television for his role as Stannis Baratheon in Game of Thrones (2011–2015, various directors). He won the International Emmy Award for Best Actor for his portrayal of detective Karl Roebuck in the series The Tunnel (2013–2017, various directors).
Dillane was also honored with a Tony Award for his leading role in The Real Thing (2000, directed by Nicholas Hytner) for his theater work. His career spans from Shakespearean roles to complex film and series characters – awarded with major festival prizes and international television awards.
