Susana Abdulmajid

Susana Abdulmajid, born in Berlin in 1990 and raised in Heidelberg, is a German actress who has made a name for herself with precisely observed, emotionally dense roles in contemporary arthouse cinema and television. After training at the Transform Acting School in Berlin, she initially worked at the Goethe Institute and in asylum shelters before taking on roles at the Schaubühne Berlin, the Schauspielhaus Wien, the Schauspielhaus Bochum, and the Berliner Ensemble. There she regularly appears on stage in contemporary and political plays. She celebrated her cinematic breakthrough with JIBRIL (2018, directed by Henrika Kull), in which she plays the main character Maryam. The romantic drama was screened in the Panorama section of the Berlinale and brought Abdulmajid to the attention of an international audience of film professionals. Her performance earned her a nomination for the Götz George Young Talent Award at the 2018 First Steps Awards and for the 2019 German Acting Award, cementing her position as an exciting new leading actress in German cinema. With MONOLITH (2023, directed by Julius Schultheiß), she continues her collaboration with young directors in the independent sector.
