Jannis Alexander Kiefer | Interfilm 2025
With our INTERFILM Coop, we present JANNIS ALEXANDER KIEFER – a director who has consistently made the transition from short films to feature films. At the festival, we are showing his short films MEETING, KOLLEGEN, COMMENTS, and BONBON, as well as his feature film debut ANOTHER GERMAN TANK STORY—a tragicomic story from provincial German life, sharply observed and cleverly told. Jannis has also put together a personal selection from the SOONER program: films that move, inspire, or simply fascinate him. His picks: LOVE STEAKS, ER SIE ICH, IMAGINE WAKING UP TOMORROW MORNING AND ALL MUSIC HAS DISAPPEARED, KLEPTOMAMI, PIX, LIFE ON THE HORN, ICH HAB DICH TANZEN SEHN, MASEL TOV COCKTAIL, and L’EMPIRE. Jannis Alexander Kiefer grew up on a farm, studied “Audiovisual Media” in Berlin and later feature film directing at the Film University Babelsberg. His film COMMENTS was screened at over 80 festivals, MEETING won the Short Film Lola in Gold, and ANOTHER GERMAN TANK STORY premiered at the Shanghai Film Festival and the Munich Film Festival in 2024, winning the Big Audience Award at the First Steps Award.
