In the far south of Brazil, against the backdrop of the rugged sea, long-time friends Tomaz and Martin discover new feelings for each other. It's winter in southern Brazil. Two friends travel to a nearby coastal town to obtain papers for a family inheritance. Tomaz is shy but at the same time bold and knows exactly what he wants. Martin is reckless but too cool to show his affection for Tomaz openly. The two have been friends for a long time, but over the years they have grown apart. Step by step, we witness an intimate reconciliation. The friends have no choice but to slowly open up to each other again... SEASHORE (original title: BEIRA-MAR) is the feature film debut of Brazilian directing duo Filipe Matzembacher and Marcio Reolon. The film premiered at the Berlinale Forum in 2015 and is considered a quiet, sensitive portrait of queer youth. Without dramatic escalation, but with great emotional precision, the work shows how new spaces open up between speechlessness and tenderness - for friendship, for desire, for a new beginning.
