Luna

Luna (Laëtitia Clément) is a teenager who rarely considers the consequences of her actions. Together with her friend Chloé (Lyna Khoudri) and a group of friends, she gets caught up in a situation that spirals out of control and ends in violence. Luna's encounter with the victim of this assault later takes an unexpected and deeply unsettling turn. In the suburbs of Montpellier, Luna lives a turbulent life between working on a vegetable farm, partying with friends, and her complicated relationship with her boyfriend Ruben. During a night out with her friends, a young graffiti artist is brutally attacked—an act in which Luna is also involved. A few weeks later, she encounters the victim, Alex, again—as a new colleague at the farm. He doesn't recognize her, and a tender relationship develops between the two. But Luna is plagued by guilt and faces the decision of whether to tell Alex the truth. Elsa Diringer's feature film debut LUNA (2017) is an intense coming-of-age drama that highlights the moral dilemmas of a teenager torn between loyalty, guilt, and the desire for a new beginning. Laëtitia Clément embodies Luna with impressive authenticity and was awarded Best Young Actress at the 2018 Festival du Film de Cabourg for her performance. She is joined by Rod Paradot as Alex and Lyna Khoudri as Chloé. Elin Kirschfink's cinematography captures the summer atmosphere of southern France and contrasts the idyllic surroundings with the protagonist's inner conflicts. Thibaut Barbillon's music underscores the emotional depth of the film. LUNA has been presented at several festivals, including the Festival du Cinéma Méditerranéen de Montpellier, and has received positive reviews for its sensitive portrayal of a young woman in search of forgiveness and self-determination.
