Born for You

In a Neapolitan clinic, a newborn with Down syndrome is abandoned by her parents immediately after birth. Over thirty families refuse to adopt the girl until a court decides to entrust her to a single man. This man is Luca Trapanese, an openly gay Catholic and dedicated social worker who has always dreamed of starting a family. Despite societal prejudices and bureaucratic hurdles, he takes on the challenge and begins a transformative journey of fatherhood. The film BORN FOR YOU by Italian director Fabio Mollo is based on the true story of Luca Trapanese and his daughter Alba. With a sensitive narrative style, the film highlights themes such as love, acceptance and the definition of family in a modern society. The lead role of Luca is embodied by Pierluigi Gigante, whose portrayal authentically captures the emotional depth and determination of the character. BORN FOR YOU premiered at the OUTshine Film Festival in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, where it was shown as the opening film in October 2023. The film was praised for its touching narrative and outstanding acting performances. At the Rome Independent Film Festival 2023, it received the award for Best Feature Film.
