Emre, a young and dedicated prosecutor, is newly appointed to a small town severely affected by a water crisis and political scandals. The town of Yaniklar initially welcomes the young man warmly, but it gradually becomes clear that there is political calculation behind this cordiality. The young prosecutor fights hard not to become a puppet in the intrigues of the town's political power brokers. But when Emre suddenly becomes the prime suspect in his first criminal investigation, events come to a head... The film BURNING DAYS by Turkish director Emin Alper is a gripping political thriller that exposes the depths of a society in which personal interests are placed above the common good. With intense imagery and a gripping narrative style, the film explores the effects of environmental destruction and corruption on a community. The lead role of prosecutor Emre is played by Selahattin Paşalı, whose portrayal impressively reflects the inner turmoil and courage of his character. BURNING DAYS premiered in the “Un Certain Regard” section at the Cannes International Film Festival in May 2022. The film was praised for its powerful staging and profound examination of current social issues. At the 59th Antalya International Film Festival in October 2022, the film won several awards, including Best Director (Emin Alper), Best Actor (Selahattin Paşalı) and Best Supporting Actor (Erol Babaoğlu). In addition, editors Özcan Vardar and Eytan Ipeker received the 2022 European Film Award for Best Editing for their work on BURNING DAYS.
