After the loss of Denis, Antonio and Luca meet again – with new feelings and conflicts.
After the loss of Denis, Antonio and Luca meet again – with new feelings and conflicts.
Antonio is living life to the full, but inwardly he feels disoriented. While his career as a master pastry chef is flourishing and his recipe videos are celebrated on the internet, he lacks inspiration, both professionally and personally. Three years after the death of their mutual friend Denis, he meets Luca again, who is now in a happy relationship with Tancredi, the operator of an LGBTQ+-residential home. Their reunion reawakens old feelings, but Antonio can't quite make sense of Luca's proximity. In his attempt to sabotage Luca's relationship, he not only risks their friendship but also has to ask himself whether he is ready to let go of the past in order to embrace the future.
MASCARPONE 2: THE RAINBOW CAKE by Alessandro Guida continues the story of MASCARPONE and tells of love, maturity and the difficulty of moving forward. The sequel builds on its predecessor with wit, charm and emotional depth, showing that true change often requires the courage to heal old wounds.
The film celebrated its premiere at the Festival Mix Milano 2024 and was subsequently shown at the OUTshine Film Festival Miami and the Lovers Film Festival Turin.
