The Accompanist

In a studio in Los Angeles, Jason accompanies dancers on the piano. His life is in turmoil. He has nightmares because of a traumatic experience. He spends his days feeling guilty and lonely. Brandon, an attractive dancer, is also having a hard time. He wants to make a comeback, but training is tough and the competition is fierce. His relationship with his boyfriend Adam is under increasing pressure. Through the healing power of music, Jason and Brandon grow closer. When Adam finds out, the situation threatens to escalate. THE ACCOMPANIST tells the story of a widowed pianist who finds a new footing in a ballet studio. There he meets a younger dancer who is in an abusive relationship. What begins as accompaniment turns into something deeper – a cautious rapprochement between two wounded people. The film combines classical music, dance, and queer themes into a story about loss, courage, and second chances. Director Frederick Keeve not only wrote the screenplay, but also composed the music and played the lead role. THE ACCOMPANIST has been screened at festivals such as the Silicon Beach Film Festival and has won several awards, including Best LGBTQ Film at the Hollywood Reel Independent Film Festival and Best Fantasy Film at the Florence Film Awards.
