A hospice, two sisters, no shared plan: a journey toward death becomes a confrontation with love, guilt, and autonomy.
Synopsis
Sisters Małgorzata and Łucja are brought together for the most important journey of their lives when Łucja takes Małgorzata, who is terminally ill, to a hospice in Switzerland. Each of them has different intentions: Małgorzata wants to leave the world on her own terms, while Łucja hopes to convince her sister to change her mind and fight for her life.
Between old wounds and new decisions, a journey unfolds that becomes an emotional ordeal. While Małgorzata is determined to end her life in a hospice, Łucja continues to believe in a turnaround. Their conversations fluctuate between accusations and reconciliation, between grief and black humor. In the end, the question remains whether closeness can be renewed in the face of death or whether every farewell can also be a quiet new beginning.
ANXIETY by Sławomir Fabicki deals with topics such as assisted suicide, sibling love, and the tension between care and autonomy. The film won the Audience Award at the Warsaw IFF, among other prizes. Magdalena Cielecka received the Polish Film Award for Best Actress.
