Nur das Beste

Trailer

Four different people on a quest for perfectionism: How much improvement can a person tolerate? When does optimization become an obsession?

Synopsis

Obsessive perfectionism? Two dog breeders, two tomato growers, a ballerina, and a quality manager talk about their self-optimization processes. The quality manager attempts to further optimize the already nearly perfect workflow. The ballerina fights with iron discipline against the deterioration of her own body. The tomato growers constantly try to set themselves apart from the competition. The two dog breeders use blood and hearing tests to approach their dream of breeding the perfect Dalmatian. NUR DAS BESTE by Kim Münster combines observation with subtle criticism: a body that cannot perform forever; a tomato that must meet customer expectations exactly; a Dalmatian that is genetically optimized. A company that continues to refine its processes even though they have long been running like clockwork. Director Kim Münster explores the question “Where does the systematic pursuit of efficiency lead us?” without preaching an answer. Together with cinematographer Tina Porsche, she traces our constant performance-oriented society, leaving behind a thought-provoking impression.
