Barbara

Barbara, an aging drag queen, loses her job at a nightclub. To get revenge, she steals a mysterious suitcase from her ex-lover and former boss Polaco that could make her rich, and flees to the prairie. Sixto is a young farmer who grows drugs for a gangster. He is forced to watch as his family is murdered by a gang. He manages to escape and meets Barbara, who wants to cross the border with his loot via back roads. Despite their differences, they embark on a dangerous journey through the harsh landscape, pursued by Polaco and his men. Their relationship develops from conflict and mistrust into a special friendship. In the end, Barbara learns to be sincere, and Sixto realizes that his dreams can come true. BARBARA, a Venezuelan feature film by John Petrizzelli, tells this moving story. The film was released in 2017 and received international recognition. It won the Best Feature Film Award at the Serile Filmului Gay International Film Festival in Cluj-Napoca, Romania, as well as the Best World Cinema Film Award at the 6th New Delhi International Film Festival in India. It was also named Best Film at the IX Festival de Cine de Los Llanos in Venezuela. The film stars Alberto Alifa as Barbara and Ray García as Sixto. Marcos Santaniello's impressive cinematography and Roberto Tarzieris' music contribute to the film's intense atmosphere.
