The collaborative project by Wim Wenders "A Sense of Place": A dreamy and enigmatic film about facing your own shadow through a camera.
Synopsis
Based on Wim Wenders' unique approach and under his mentorship, six Iranian films were created as part of the “A Sense of Place” project. A hybrid film combining fiction and documentary about a traveler whose shadow wants to lead a life of its own upon his arrival in Germany. To encounter it, the traveler points his video camera at it—and at himself. Memories and flashbacks rhythmically interrupt his recordings of the present until past and future merge. Everything takes place in an in-between space, in a place with no solid ground – In Transit.
SHADOWLESS - IN TRANSIT was created as part of the international collective project “A Sense of Place,” developed by producer Afsun Moshiry in partnership with the Wim Wenders Foundation. The films in this program were supervised by Wim Wenders and Hella Wenders and reflect on questions of migration, archives, and identity. Feizabadi's contribution has been shown at several international festivals, including CPH:DOX, the Ljubljana Short Film Festival, the DMZ International Documentary Film Festival, EthnoFest, and the Reykjavík International Film Festival (RIFF).
It was also shown in the Berlin format “Video Art at Midnight.” In addition, the work received a nomination for the 2023 German Film Critics' Award in the category “Best Experimental Film.” This presence underscores the film's relevance within the current festival and art film context.
