Drii Winter

The story unfolds in a remote Swiss Alpine village, where Marco helps farmer Alois and slowly becomes part of the local gathering. There he meets Anna, who has returned to the village with her daughter Julia, and the film watches a shy, uncertain connection take shape. Marco and Anna marry, and their life together is built from small gestures, simple words, and a trust that grows almost imperceptibly. The tenderness stays present, yet the story gradually registers a darker strain as Marco increasingly seems to lose control of his impulses. Michael Koch lets this relationship develop in step with the seasons, using calm observation rather than drama for drama's sake. Nature and human life are closely intertwined, and the normality of the non-professional cast keeps the film grounded in everyday routines, physical closeness, and the tension between body and soul.
