30-year-old Odile works at a library in Norway. She also writes hip-hop tracks, but she’s afraid to release them or to come out to her Muslim father.
Synopsis
I AM EARTH follows Odile, a 30-year-old librarian in Bergen who dreams of becoming a rapper but hesitates to share her music with the world. While friends around her seem to settle into careers, relationships and family life, Odile finds herself questioning what adulthood should look like and whether there is still time to pursue the life she truly wants.
As she navigates friendships, romance and the first steps toward a music career, Odile also confronts questions of identity, belonging and self-acceptance. A Black, queer Muslim woman, she moves through everyday experiences shaped by love, family expectations and casual racism, gradually learning to embrace every part of herself. Music becomes both an outlet and a way of imagining a different future.
Blending drama, comedy and original rap performances, the series captures the energy of Bergen's music scene while telling an intimate story about creativity and finding one's voice. Created by and starring Amy Black Ndiaye and directed by Øyvind Holtmon, I AM EARTH is a fresh portrait of a woman determined to define herself on her own terms. The series won the Seriescamp Official Competition Award in 2022.
