Ballroom, danser pour exister

Directed by Amandine Gay

Trailer

BALLROOM immerses us in the LGBTQIA+ and BIPOC community of Greater Paris, united around ballroom culture.

Synopsis

BALLROOM, DANSER POUR EXISTER steps into the queer ballroom community of the racially diverse suburban Paris metropolitan area, where young adults from House of Revlon turn presence, style and discipline into a way of life. The series looks at a world where performance is never separate from belonging. Through their daily lives, the series follows the members of House of Revlon as they balance collective ambition with personal vulnerability. Competition shapes their bonds, but so do questions of succession inside the House and the pressure of living up to shared expectations. The result is a portrait of a group constantly negotiating how to stay united while pursuing individual paths. Built around three main axes, the series brings together a sports competition culminating in the 2024 Olympics, the succession quest within the House and the characters' personal struggles. BALLROOM, DANSER POUR EXISTER uses those threads to link intimate experience with collective stakes, and it invites viewers into a community where ambition, affection and self-definition are always in motion.
