ActorDirectorBorn in Argentina in 1989 and raised in Spain, artist and filmmaker Amalia Ulman first gained international attention through her performative works on social media, especially the piece "Excellences & Perfections" (2014). Her feature film debut, "El Planeta" (2021), which she directed, wrote, and starred in, premiered at the Sundance Film Festival. The film earned her nominations for the Bingham Ray Breakthrough Director Award at the Gotham Awards and for Best First Screenplay at the Independent Spirit Awards. She was also honored with the Frieze Artist Award for her artistic work.
