Catherine Keener was born on March 26, 1959, in Miami, Florida. She became known in the 1990s for her roles in independent films and received Oscar nominations for her performances in Being John Malkovich (1999, directed by Spike Jonze) and Capote (2005, directed by Bennett Miller). Her notable films include Adaptation. (2002, directed by Spike Jonze), The 40-Year-Old Virgin (2005, directed by Judd Apatow), Into the Wild (2007, directed by Sean Penn), and Get Out (2017, directed by Jordan Peele). Of particular note is her performance in the film MYSTERIOUS SKIN (2004, directed by Gregg Araki), in which she played a central role. In television, she played the lead role of Deirdre in the Showtime series Kidding (2018–2020, directed by Michel Gondry, among others).
